I’m losing track of time. Oh, don’t worry, it’s not any kind of mental deterioration thing (at least, I hope not). It’s just a matter of too many years meshing together. It seems I can’t discern one year from eight. I might tell you I did thus and so two years ago, when in fact, I did it ten years ago.

Around six years ago or so, I inherited my grandmother's Union Loom Works #36 Rug loom which was built around 1900. Grandma had purchased it a long time ago (the newspaper wrapped in the canvas was dated 1954) and I used to ooo and ahhh over it when I'd come to visit. I wanted to weave so badly I could hardly stand it

It has been a long time since I've read an author whose attention to detail and story-telling is so exquisitly written that I fear to miss a single word--and I'm here to tell you that Penelope Williamson meets that description. At first, I hesitated to read her books because they are very big, well over 100,000 words, if I were to make a guess.

It's been nearly six years since we moved into our house. Our temporary front steps became our permanent steps simply because we couldn't afford to build a front porch. Then necessity stepped in. Due to lazy worksmanship, the original builders didn't put j-channels around our front door and our contractor didn't correct the mistake.

How many phrases do we have in the English language whose sole purpose is to pat ourselves on the back? Things like, “I could have told you that” and “what were you thinking,” self-aggrandize the speaker but add nothing of worth to the problem or situation. And yet, our language seems to indicate that we seem inordinately pleased with ourselves...
