Author Bio

I've been writing since I was a young girl - escaping to my room to pour out typical childhood angst in poetry, essays, short-stories, or whatever else my hand set itself to do. As I grew, my writing evolved and expanded. After more than 3 decades of writing - has it really been that long? - I think I've written about every style out there.

After an extensive bout with in-depth nonfiction, I've turned my attentions to the joys of science fiction, fantasy and romantic dramas. The transition was rough, but I've finally adapted.

As for the personal stuff - I've been married to my Army sweetheart for more than 2 decades; I have 3 pubescent girls in the "I gotta have it NOW!" stage; too-many finches that chirp ferociously as I'm coming down the stairs in the morning; a monster cat that terrifies anyone he thinks doesn't belong (okay, sometimes he terrifies me, too!); and an old shepard/collie mutt that slaps its jaws together constantly to show how happy she is that we're alive. All in all, we're a happy bunch together.

If you'd like to keep up on my daily/weekly/monthly comings and goings, watch my blog. I'll try to update it frequently with tidbits about my world, where I get writing ideas, new books on the horizon, and all the things that I find interesting (and I hope will interest you, as well).

Those who are looking for a more substantial and realistic romantic book (whether identified as a romance, scifi, or drama), I hope you will give my books a try.

Interests

Mostly, it amounts to conquering the unknown. And since everything in life starts out as an unknown, I've been a busy beaver over the years. Here are some of the most interesting things I've set my hand to.

  • mini-farm "conquests" include:

    • making goat-cheese from the goat to the finished product.

    • growing and making elderberry wine (though it was never anything to brag off, taste-wise)

    • making tofu and soy milk

    • growing and drying my own herbs and flowers

    • growing, drying and/or canning my own vegetables

    • butchering and preparing my own ducks (okay, this one made me bawl like a baby!)

    • landscaping the property (but this will never be finished. Lo is me!)

  • My craftsy "conquests" include:

    • Spinning yarn from raw wool

    • Weaving

    • Crocheting

    • Some basketweaving (I never really mastered this one)

    • Beading (another skill I do poorly)

Favorite Authors & Books

I can't deny it. My most recent reading obsessions have been romance, but not just any romance. I want a story with a bit of romance in it, not a romance with a bit of  story. With that in mind, here are some of my favorite romance authors.

In case you'd like to learn more about the authors I've enjoyed, the authors are linked to their websites, and their books are linked to Amazon.
