A week ago Friday, a landscaping company at the end of our road, held a going-out-of-business yard sale and I got a tremendous deal. We bought around three flats worth of miscellaneous pavers for 50 cents a square foot. When compared with the store cost of about $3.50 per square foot, you can see why I went crazy and bought that much.

My veggie garden has been a mess (as you can see). With too many rainy days and too few dry ones, I haven't been able to keep up with the demands of weeding, laying bricks and tilling up the patio garden. Nonetheless, I have gotten some work done. During a lull in the rain, I started pulling up the pavers edging my front flower bed.

It took three days (about 2 hours a day) to till up the soil and heavily amend it with sphagnum peat moss, but we (Ray and I) did it. Yesterday evening, we finished a 12x12 section behind the patio. I only wish that it was the only 12x12 section awaiting our attentions. Alas, it’s not.

Every spring, I get the fever. I have to be doing something outside...and being on a mini-farm, that something is landscaping. Today I think I went a bit crazy. Ray calls me a mole because I just dig and dig and dig. The digging started yesterday when Ray bought me a Santa Rosa plum tree.

Ohio has had a brief Indian Summer and I've been taking full advantage of it...which means this website has been sorely neglected, but for GOOD reason. Many of the chores are usually done in the Spring when I'm feeling housebound and desperate to be out digging in the soil.
