Saturday morning I raced to my computer to find the earliest showing of Legion at our favorite theater. Legion is a supernatural action thriller (rated R for strong language and graphic violence) released last Friday night. I'd been eagerly anticipating this movie for the past two months.

The Book of Eli opened last Friday. It is rated R, mostly for graphic violence, although there are a couple near-rape scenes in it and a bit of strong language. Two of my kids (13 and 15) came with us and they didn't seem bothered by any of the scenes, so I wouldn't worry too much about taking your teenagers.

Avatar opened this weekend, in both flat and 3D formats. Of course, you have to pay extra ($3 more per person) for the privilege of seeing it in 3D. Since I'm a bit of a skinflint, and there were 5 of us watching it, we settled for the flat version.

There was a time TV fascinated me. I'd sit and stare at the boobtube for hours. As a rural child stuck in the middle of nowhere without any social life to speak of, TV was my escapism. It started with "Lassie," "Green Acres," "Batman," "Partridge Family," "Brady Bunch," and "Adams Family" (plus many, many others).
