Saturday morning I raced to my computer to find the earliest showing of Legion at our favorite theater. Legion is a supernatural action thriller (rated R for strong language and graphic violence) released last Friday night. I'd been eagerly anticipating this movie for the past two months.

The Book of Eli opened last Friday. It is rated R, mostly for graphic violence, although there are a couple near-rape scenes in it and a bit of strong language. Two of my kids (13 and 15) came with us and they didn't seem bothered by any of the scenes, so I wouldn't worry too much about taking your teenagers.

Avatar opened this weekend, in both flat and 3D formats. Of course, you have to pay extra ($3 more per person) for the privilege of seeing it in 3D. Since I'm a bit of a skinflint, and there were 5 of us watching it, we settled for the flat version.

I watched 2012 yesterday, and without a doubt, I would have to rank it as amongst the best--and possibly the best--disaster movie I've ever seen. It combines non-stop action (which stretches credibility to the extreme, but it's a fun ride), with focus on one particular family, and the prerequisite scientists, politicians, and elite calling the shots.
