There was a time TV fascinated me. I'd sit and stare at the boobtube for hours. As a rural child stuck in the middle of nowhere without any social life to speak of, TV was my escapism. It started with "Lassie," "Green Acres," "Batman," "Partridge Family," "Brady Bunch," and "Adams Family" (plus many, many others).

On Friday, Columbus hosted a Veterans Day parade for all those who have served our country. From military to local law enforcement, the parade reminded me of all those who have given their time, their welfare and, in some cases, their lives so that we can live our lives without constant fear, harassment and/or control.

Love poems and sonnets from ancient times until today have many similarities, but most of all they emphasize its permanency. Shakespeare wrote about romantic love over 400 years ago (b.1564-d.1616) and the words from Sonnet 116 ring true today (though it's hard to understand because of the language).

I find myself in a familiar dilemma: choosing which photo to display on this website--I have several versions of the same one. (In the Reminiscence section, I've a growing collection of barn and nature photos that I've re-imaged.)

I am thoroughly convinced that most of us actually have the time to do what matters to us, despite all our protests to the contrary. Whining about time constraints, how pressured we feel, and all our obligations is just an excuse we use to justify inaction.
