A couple months ago, I read an article on MSN about success in life (referring to job satisfaction and financial stability) and one of his comments struck a real chord with me. "How you manage your time and skills are a greater indicator of success than intelligence."

Some topics get me hot--and I don't mean that in a sexy way. I mean, under the collar, steam rising, my voice going into screech mode hot. (It's not a pretty picture.) One of those topics has to do with the criminalizing of America.

The government is at it again. Trying to tell us that all our children must be intellectual equals. Without regard to abilities, interests, individuality or anything, all our children are expected to attain the same academic standards. The only way to achieve such a standard is to dumb our children down yet more.

It seems I'm on a roll. After writing the last article about overhauling the educational system, I attended a state meeting on childhood obesity/diabetes. The statistics were horrible. An epidemic really. If something isn't done to curb the problem, our children will be dying before we do from all the ailments associated with being overweight.

I have three girls in school and I'm continually appalled at the cookie-cutter mentality guiding the system. If my school was the exception, I'd simply remove them and put them in a more appropriate environment, but that's not the case. To be fair, the school board isn't totally to blame. Bush's "No Child Left Behind Act" caused so much damage to education that the US is now lagging behind all industrialized nations.
